Our worlds are built on the friction of opposition. No "this" exists without a "that." "This" is our salvation. "That" is our enemy. We swim in a sea of "this." We are wary of "that."
We choose friends and groups who swear to our "this." We revel in our mutual thisness. We distrust, dislike "those" who swear to "that." We wonder why "they" cannot, do not come live in our thisness.
We champion the hero of "our" thisness. We detest the hero of "their" thatness.
We do not realize that what we see as thatness, "they" see as thisness and wonder why "we" are so peculiar in our thatness.
