once upon a time

Once upon a time there was a man who lived in stark reality. Black and white. Up was up and down was down and by god don't give him any of the all is relative stuff because he had trouble with his relations anyway and he prided himself in his hardheaded stubbornness and believed that once fooled, always a fool and he had fooled himself too many times, made a fool of himself over other people mostly and got hurt and so he closed his heart and said what heart? the head is where it's at and kept strict accounting of everything and lived in ledger domain thanking god except he knew there wasn't one that he wasn't foolish anymore like all those others until a chevy pickup almost ran him down one day and the startle sent a lightning flash unbolting his pent upness and he fell to the ground weeping and sobbing and couldn't hold himself together anymore, see him over there? wearing rainbows, his head all exploded into a cloud of glory and the vast unseen, wondering why people took life so seriously, making things so grave and he thought about starting a church of the eternal chevy pickup but said nah! too black and white, everybody has to get run down by their own vehicle

  1. Interesting treatment, George. I like it. I like all stories where folks live happily ever after. ;-)
