islands of convenience

Explanations are islands of convenience upon which we erect rigid structures to describe the Ocean. We stay upon our little islands, sanctify the structures, and gaze in puzzlement and condemnation at other islands. Every religion, every belief system, every thought structure is such an explanation. Oh how I long for a Tsunami of Spirit to wash away all structure and rigidity so that all is Ocean.

  2. And the 'separateness' and 'distinctness' of these explanatory islands are, at best, superficial, as all islands share a common crust at their base.

  3. We do love our islands, don't we? Letting go can be such a challenge, but is so refreshing once we do it. In Being, we recognize that there is no "other", just Is.

While I'm not sure when the Tsunami will arrive, loving kindness lapping at the shore of those islands does slowly erode them away. Small steps, but steps all the same.
